NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES
Corona Municipal Airport has extremely heavy use, particularly on weekends, with a large variety of aircraft (both with and without radios) and pilots with all ratings and skills, including many students, local and from neighboring fields. Also, many residential developments have been built in close proximity to the airport. Therefore, airport management insists that FAA and local regulations be observed and that pilots be good neighbors in the interest of safety and public relations. STRAIGHT-INS NOT RECOMMENDED!
The pattern for Runway 25 is standard left-hand and Runway 7 is right-hand.
Pattern altitude is 1500’ MSL (1000’ AGL).
While not required, good pilot technique is to announce to UNICOM (122.7) before entering pattern. Please announce entry on 45 degree leg, downwind, base and final. This is especially important given the heavy traffic volume that is typical at Corona.
Preferred pattern entry is level flight at 45 degrees to downwind so as to join the downwind leg at mid-point of the runway. NO straight-in approaches!
DO NOT unnecessarily extend the downwind leg of 25. If traffic forces a long downwind, shorten the base leg and fly down Temescal Wash. STAY SOUTH OF HOUSING AREA ON FINAL APPROACH! STRAIGHT-IN NOT RECOMMENDED!
When departing Runway 25, make no crosswind or left turns below 1200’ MSL. Look for helicopter traffic to your left. Fixed-wing noise abatement departure procedures for Runway 7 require all departing aircraft to make a 15 degree right turn to follow Temescal Wash. DO NOT fly over NOISE sensitive housing area. Right turn only after reaching 1500’ MSL (1000’ AGL). No left turns permitted.
Due to traffic congestion, no touch and go landings are allowed on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays, between the hours of 10AM and 4 PM. Avoid low approach, use VASI.
HELICOPTERS:
Use UNICOM (122.7) and fly 1000’ MSL (500” AGL) pattern, south of runway, inside of fixed-wing traffic patter and inside/over the railroad tracks.
On departure, climb to 800’ MSL prior to any turns.
Climbs and descents within airport boundaries/fence.
Utilize quiet departure and arrival techniques. NOISE SENSITIVE AREAS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO AIRPORT AND ENDANGERED BIRDS NESTING SOUTH AND WEST OF RUNWAY.
Landing area is the grass strip immediately South of roadway and just west of used aircraft sales lot or helipads at mid-field. Hover practice in vicinity of helipads only. Fueling is at midfield, just south of the parallel taxiway.
For restaurant, park on grass area as stated above. Do not park east of airport office (trailer near airport driveway entrance). No helicopter training of hover practice allowed at West end along tree line due to endangered and protected birds. Helicopter landing and departure areas are not lighted.
