The tug and lift are now at Flabob airport. Patrick thanks the CPA for having it removed from the airport.
The May Task Force is holding their last public meeting on May 20th, and then the meetings will go to closed session.
The hanger flags need to be sold for $25.00 so that we can get some money back (since they are already paid for). Originally the flags were priced much higher than the current price. Any member that has previously purchased a flag will get a rebate or will have their 2008 dues waived. A list of members who purchased the flags at the higher price is being produced.
July is dues month – membership drive is underway
Jim sent a reminder through Wally that members are encouraged to have their names added to the email list so that we can contact all members with upcoming events and other airport information.
A special thanks was sent out to Wally for handling the May display.
Jason & Dee Scott discussed the Corona Fire Dept. – "Vials for Life" program (sponsored in part by the Corona Regional Medical Center). The program provides free large vials that are to contain a family’s medical information and stored in the family refrigerator. A magnet is included and is to be placed on the outside of the fridge. The fire dept. is trained to look here for these vials. The goal is to get one in every household in Corona. The Scotts gave each member a vial.
David Querner, flight instructor extraordinaire, gave a Safety Quiz from the AOPA website to the members. It was informative, educational and fun. Thank you David!
Meeting adjourned at 3:09 pm.
FROM THE PREZ
Our president is out of pocket for this issue. Look for his comments in the next big July issue.
CORONA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
By Rich Brodeur
Now is your chance to get rid of those unwanted metal and wire items; a Metal & Wire Only Container is located at the east end of the airport.
Upcoming events:
Corona Airfaire 2008 will not be held this year.
The next MTFAS (Mayor’s Task Force on Aviation Safety will be June 3, 2008 at 7 pm in the City Council Chamber located at 400 S. Vicentia Ave. These meetings are open to the public. It appears that all of the testimony is in and the advisory members will be meeting with the City staff to discuss the next level; which is to develop a report to the City Council for action and recommendations to enhance Aviation Safety. If anyone has any positive suggestions on how to enhance safety in our air space; now would be a good time to present this information to me. If possible, please provide supporting documentation and evidence with your proposal.
Corona Girls Softball Association an independent non-profit organization is in need of sponsors for this year; Girls All Star team. The top 13 of 245 girls will go on to represent Corona and possibly the State of California. Donations will help supply these young ladies with uniforms and tournament expenses. In return for your support, a banner bearing all of the sponsor names will travel with the team to every tournament as a show of their appreciation.
Anyone interested in donating to this cause on behalf of their company or the airport may forward their checks to CGSA (Corona Girls Softball Association). For further information; please call Karen S. Bowley Sponsorship Director 10u All Star Team at (951) 371-2623. Non-profit # C1087781/Tax ID 95-3642797. Security: I am certain by now that many of you have seen the trailer located at the east end of the airport. Fred Peters has made a request for approval to position a 24 hour…7 day per week security trailer at the airport. Mr. Peters is exercising his contractual agreement to implement and enhance security of his existing property. This request is pending a written proposal from the Lease Holder and will require both the City and ACOE (Army Corps of Engineers) approval. All work except securing and painting this trailer have been placed on hold pending the outcome of the review. Aircraft complaints: We have received two recent complaints regarding aircraft flying too low over their homes and making a lot of noise. Please avoid flying over heavily populated areas and if you observe anyone not practicing our Good Neighbor policy; please let me know or better yet, let the pilot know how important it is to our airport to get along with our neighbors and the negative impact it creates for Corona Airport.
Thefts: None this month. Please report any suspicious activity to your Master Lease Holder or me as soon as possible.
Insurance: Please make sure your insurance is current and up to date and indicates The City of Corona and the Army Corps of Engineers as additionally insured. The Master Lease Holders have been issued a copy of all non-insured aircraft and will be taking corrective action to ensure 100% compliance to this ongoing process. If your aircraft is not operational and does not have insurance, you must submit a Declaration of Non-Operation Status form. Please contact your Master Lease Holder or the Airport Manager for this form.
Thank you for your continued support and Please help me keep our Airport Safe and Neighborly! Thanks!!!!
PILOT PROFILE;
John Rosenau can be found hanging around AJO at his hanger 2013 (Red #3), Bob’s, or Fly Corona. He is the owner of a 1982 Cessna TR182, which he proudly showed off at the CPA May Display.
John is married to his lovely wife, Rebecca, and has 4 grown children and a 17 year old daughter, Heather, still living at home. The Rosenau’s have 4 Grandchildren who all live in Washington State. His oldest son is also a pilot.
John took his first solo in 1974 in Othello, Washington. Since then he has nearly completed his IFR & MEL and plans to tackle his Commercial before the end of the summer.
He has flown extensively in the west and northwest, and ideally would like to travel across the U.S. sight seeing (with good weather and no schedule – of course!) . As long as he is wishing, his Dream Plane would be a Cessna (Columbia 400). His favorite place to fly is anywhere that is warm in the cold winter and cool in the hot summer!
John’s scariest experience would have to be an alternator failure, dead battery, all while on a night flight and then remembering that you still have to get the gear down!
Words of Wisdom: Don’t think you know, make SURE you know that you know!
FOR SALE:
This space is designed for up to three free ads for members who wish to offer aviation merchandise for sale or for wanted items. If you wish to have an ad please call the editor.

NEWS YOU REALLY NEED
As noted in the Airport Managers column the Airfare for 2008 has been canceled. In a nutshell the City did not want to become the principle sponsor. CPA simply did not have enough members willing or available to take on the task of putting on this years event.
There is a new face at the mid field gas pit. Welcome to Jason Soto who is filling Patrick’s position at Corona Air Ventures. Patrick went to Chile and may not come back.
Jason is a Riverside resident Graduating from Riverside Arlington High School. His Parents brought him to So Cal as an infant from Chicago and he has a strong interest in aviation and wants to learn to fly as soon as he can afford it. Stop and say hello.
Our membership year is coming to a close on June 30th. 2008-09 dues are now due membership reminders will be mailed during June. Let’s keep our organization strong. Dues are only $25.00 for the entire year.
The following item was sent to some members with e-mail but her comments are just too good not to be shared. We look forward to working with Denise who will be our new secretary in the coming year.

Hi Everyone,
We wanted to get into contact with all the CPA members that were on Jim's list and let them know some information that is important. We know that the CPA has been a bit sleepy, but changes are on the way.
We would like to really get members active and plan some fun events and fly-ins. We would like to have everyone watch the coronapilots.com web site for information about upcoming events. There is also a link on that site to the forum that is a great site, but very under utilized. We are going to, in the next few days, add some polls that will allow us to survey the members to see what types of activities, events, fly-ins people would like to participate in. We would love to hear your input either on these surveys or in the forum. We have such a wonderful and unique airport, that deserves to have our pride and appreciation. We need to have a strong association behind it. So here is your change to get more
involved and meet new people! Any feedback and ideas are welcome! Talk to you soon!
Glenn & Denise

From Dreamflights newsletter about their Waco Glider project. This is an exciting project we are watching closely.
This past week has brought us closer to getting the cockpit in order to start ‘hanging’ controls, instruments and cables. Dick Smith has received the nose section and is working hard to get that completed for installation soon. We have painted the frame with chromate primer and started a very basic mock-up which you can see at Cockpit 'Green' and Mock-up. Although we always have lots of work, we also have lots of fun in seeing this magnificent machine start to come together.
We continue to receive parts and pieces from our contributors – all friends. Also, we have just had a great new sponsor – Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Co. of Corona, CA and Peachtree City, GA. Thanks to Aircraft Spruce for all of your assistance.
We are now starting our major FUNDING REQUEST for financial contributions. As with any project of this magnitude and unless the person who dreamed it up has substantial monies to fund it, there must be help from a broad sector of those interested in seeing its success. We now invite everyone to share with us and others around the country, in England, France and Holland where our WACO CG-4A will be flown to help with our funding.
There are several ways that you can contribute: as an Individual, we have a Charitable Organization – 501(c)(3) that you can contribute to and, if appropriate, obtain a tax deduction; if a Business, we can arrange a very attractive marketing program where your information will be seen by thousands, if not millions of people thru the many areas of publicity that we are involved with – web site links, print and television media, announcements, air shows, events, etc.
All of those who contribute will be recognized thru our program. Please go to WW II Glider Corps Contributor Sponsorship Levels to see what level of financial sponsorship works best for you. We welcome all suggestions and will work with everyone in regard to their particular situation. Please remember our goal is to fund this very interesting, exciting, once-in-a-lifetime program – the only flying WACO CG-4A glider in the world – that will recognize and honor the men and women of the WW II Glider Corps. We need and welcome your help.
Please contact us and indicate where you would like to make your contribution: our 501(c)(3) charitable donation or participation in our advertising program.
We are in immediate need of someone who may be driving from S. CA to N. CA, the Portland, OR, Olympia or Seattle area with a pick-up or van type of car who can carry some items that need to get ‘up North’ soon. Would anyone going that way please e-mail or call me at 949 472 9612 so that we can make arrangements to get the material to you. The package is approximately 75” x 20” with a few other parts. It will easily fit into the back of a pick-up or a mini-van (Dodge Caravan, etc.) with the rear seat removed. It is the ‘chin’ section of the cockpit, wrapped in plastic shrink wrap and weighs approx. 25#’s. Clean and easily handled but just a bit too large to go by air (long story but one of our dear supporters offered to take it in their Citation but, try as we could, we just could not make it fit by inches – heck !!)
.
John invites others to help work on the project. They are there many weekends. PLEASE CALL me before you travel to Fla-bob to make sure that we will be there. You can e-mail or call me anytime at 949 472 9612 or mobile 949 235 6532.
Be sure to get involved and BE SURE to tell your friends about the WW II Glider Corps Program. We welcome everyone to be a part of this exciting, once in a lifetime project.
End
